It is a charity calendar with a twist - when a dozen volunteers for a children's cancer charity decided to pose for the cameras, they wanted a bit of tongue-in-cheek sauciness to spice things up a bit. So instead of the usual cliche of a tasteful naked calendar - which has been done more than a thousand times since that Yorkshire WI first thought of it - the redoubtable ladies from CLIC Sargent in Wroughton, near Swindon, donned Victorian underwear for their monthly pin-ups.

It may not be the flashiest or fastest of cars, but this modest Ford Cortina edged its way ahead of gleaming Ferraris worth millions to win one of the most distinguished prizes in the motoring world. Motor-mad Rob Sargent was blown away when the vehicle he has so lovingly restored became the first Ford ever to win the Car of the Show award at the International Classic Car Show.
A lorry driver who died after a collision near a Somerset quarry has been named as Graham Philip Carter, from Wells. Mr Carter, 42, died at the scene after his vehicle was in collision with another lorry on the A361 near Torr Works, East Cranmore, at 6.50am on Monday.

Women are suffering poor self-esteem because of advertising campaigns which use airbrushing techniques to portray "unattainable perfection", a survey claimed today. A biker who was nearly twice the drink-drive limit died when he lost control and smashed into a tree, an inquest heard. Andrew Firth, 42, a farmer from Little Rissington, near Cheltenham, suffered a fractured skull, broken spine and fatal chest injuries when he left the Rissington Road and hit the tree on May 18.
Health chiefs in a Wiltshire town have outraged residents with a last-minute decision to move a planned super-surgery to the edge of town - because there will soon be scores of old people living there.
