Police in Weymouth are appealing for victims of a telephone banking fraud to come forward as they release details of two incidents in the town - with thieves purchasing a valuable motorcycle after using an elderly man's bank details. A 74-year-old man from the Preston area of Weymouth was telephoned by a man, on January 30, pretending to be his bank manager. The conman managed to obtain the victim's debit and credit card details, including the security numbers.

Last month I was attending a Defra conference on European marine legislation in London. While there I made an impassioned speech about how the fishing industry needs our support and the economic support across Europe of governments, the banking industry and of the peoples of our nations. At the end of the day the fact is fish stocks have fallen to dangerous levels and all attempts to rectify this matter have been a plaster on a major wound. The elephant in the room is that we need to close the fishing grounds of the NE Atlantic for the next five years as a minimum. Nobody will say this yet they all think it secretly.
