Presidents and speakers from European regional parliaments have visited the Senedd in Cardiff Bay. At the invitation of Presiding Officer, Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas, the Standing Committee of CALRE - the Conference of Presidents of European Regional Legislative Assemblies - met to discuss matters of common interest concerning regional assemblies.

Dark-haired former calendar girl Mara Carfagna, - now Italy's Equal Opportunities Minister - will guide the partners of the prime ministers and presidents at the conference.

• History-Makers Hoping to Make It a Grand Finale

THE Darlington Building Society NYSD League side created history when they defeated the Liverpool Premier League three weeks ago to become the first ever non-ECB Premier League to reach the final of the League Cricket Conference?s Presidents Trophy since its change of format in the year 2000. Tomorrow the team travel to Caythorpe to take on the Nottinghamshire Premier League in the final and a coach has been booked for the trip, leaving Acklam Park just after 9am and calling at Feethams. Spectators are welcome to travel free of charge and seats can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis by contacting Mike Keenan (01642 454422).

THE Warmseal Durham Senior League will travel to Nottingham on Sunday to take on the Notts Premier League in the semi-final of the League Cricket Conference Presidents Trophy. A bus trip has been organised for spectators, leaving Durham's Riverside at 8.30am. The cost is pounds 15.
