CREWE demonstrated their inconsistent ways once again as they ended up well beaten by an Aldershot side showing little sign of a Carling Cup hangover. Dean Holdsworth's players were chasing Manchester United reserves during last week's fourth-round defeat to the Premier League champions. But they had Crewe chasing shadows at the EEB Stadium on Saturday, particularly in the second half when an albeit fortunate strike from Jermaine McGlashan and Danny Hylton's second of the afternoon rendered Ajay Leitch-Smith's earlier finish academic. Sadly, Leitch-Smith's effort aside, Crewe barely mustered another effort worthy of the name on Ross Worner's goal.
Their counter-attacking threat had proved successful at AFC Wimbledon and Cheltenham, but they simply didn't generate enough possession again...

The Railwaymen have now failed to register a victory at the EEB Stadium (Recreation Ground) in 27 games, both since the reformed club were promoted to the Football League, as well as against the former Aldershot FC.
