Parish councillors in Yatton will be getting a rap on the knuckles following a police investigation into allegations that some members had used the electoral register illegally.
North Somerset Council was alerted in October after concerns were raised that members of Yatton Parish Council had used copies of the electoral register for Claverham without permission.

WITH a possible postal strike looming, Swansea residents are being urged to return their electoral registration forms quickly. More that 106,000 forms have been delivered to homes across the city to ensure Swansea's electoral register is up to date and everyone eligible has the right to vote.
About two-thirds of them have been returned but Swansea Council is urging those who have not sent them back to act now.

The Echo can today reveal how your information on the electoral register is used by businesses after being sold by local councils.
Using the Freedom of Information Act, the Echo obtained the names of companies and organisations who have bought edited versions of the electoral register, as well as figures on how much was paid.

OPPOSITION politicians have raised questions about alleged voting irregularities in the recent local elections in Monaghan.
Seymour Crawford, a local Fine Gael TD, said he will raise questions in the Dail about a number of Eastern European voters who were registered at houses which were apparently empty at the time of the vote.

Electoral Register forms will be posted through nearly 63,000 household mail boxes across Torbay during the next few days as Torbay Council begins the process of compiling its 2008-09 register.
Information given on the forms is used to compile the annual register which comes into force on Monday, December 1.

Also, if I'm not registered, do I need to register before a certain date to ensure that I can vote? To vote in any election you must be on the Electoral Register. If you filled in ts he registration form delivered to your household last summer, you should already be on the Electoral Register. You can check by contacting your Local Authority.
If you are not on the register you can register at any time by visiting your local electoral registration office and filling in the relevant form. Alternatively you could download a form from the website www.aboutmyvote.co.uk and post it to your local electoral registration office.

Almost four million people eligible to vote in England and Wales - about one in 12 of the electorate - are not on the electoral register.
A new report from the Electoral Commission follows calls from the independent elections watchdog for reform of the way the register is compiled.

Forms allowing people to register on the electoral roll have been sent to 70,000 households in North Lincolnshire.
The list of people eligible to vote will be updated by North Lincolnshire Council on December 1, to take account of new voters and people who have moved house.
