AS A British national with a keen pro-European outlook, having lived in Germany where national interests are well-served by a pro- active and positive relationship with the EU, I feel that Britain must learn to appreciate its European identity. Our island status is merely a whim of geography and should not become a metaphor for our political perspective. Britain IS Europe, as much as France, Germany, or any one of our EU partners.
