PLANS to build 14 homes on the site of a former industrial building have been given the go-ahead - despite the developer refusing to donate money for improvements to a park. Regenisis wants to demolish Midland House, in London Road, Chesterton, to make way for the development. The plans include nine two-bedroom homes, three three-bedroom homes, one one-bedroom flat and one two-bedroom flat as well as 22 car parking spaces and two retail units. The application was recommended for refusal after the developer claimed they were unwilling to make a financial contribution of Pounds 41,202 for improvements to Chesterton Park.
A PARISH council has objected to plans to install a new shed at Repton School, saying it would be an eyesore. Repton Parish Council opposed the plans, arguing that it would be inappropriate for the industrial building to be located close to an area of historical significance.
PLANS to knock down an industrial building and build 14 homes in its place are set to be given the goahead. The development on the Midland House site in London Road, Chesterton, would see a mix of two and three-bedroom houses constructed.
A TROUBLE-PLAGUED North East college is looking to secure its future by merging with a counterpart on Tyneside. Governors at the 2,500-student Northumberland College have agreed in principle to become part of the Newcastle College Group (NCG) in a move which aims to safeguard the future of the Ashington-based college. PLANS to build an industrial recycling building at a coal yard have been approved despite a 784-name petition against the proposals. Stoke-on-Trent City Council's development management committee yesterday gave permission for the scheme.
