SILVESTRE DE SOUSA fears the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York this afternoon might not play to the strengths of his mount Namibian.
The Brazilian jockey, battling Paul Hanagan for the jockeys' title, is unbeaten on Mark Johnston's colt, having landed the two- mile Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot before edging out Fiorente back at a mile-and-a-half in the Gordon Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. The Voltigeur is the same distance but De Sousa said: 'The mileand-a- half is not ideal for him. He has the class to win at the trip but is a better stayer. 'I was delighted with him at Goodwood but York is a much easier track. It is a very tough race but he has grown up in his last two races. I hope he will be right there.' De Sousa, outscored 2-1 by Hanagan at Musselburgh yesterday to fall 11 (107- 96) be...

SO Wales have all but qualified for the quarter finals with one game to spare thanks to South Africa's win against Samoa yesterday morning, and I can't imagine anyone would have predicted that before this World Cup campaign kicked off.
I know that it's not a mathematical certainty yet, but can you honestly see Fiji beating Wales by 62 points tomorrow? They have survived the so-called "group of death", and this year could be their best ever chance of reaching the final. But, let's not get carried away - as the old clich goes, "let's take it one game at a time".

NAMIBIAN gave Mark Johnston his 50th Glorious Goodwood winner with a performance characteristic of so many of the trainer's best horses in the bet365 Gordon Stakes.
It is often mentioned this week in Sussex is a working holiday for Middleham-based Johnston, but he arrives eager for success and rarely fails to deliver.

Iliterally blew it. It was my chance to impress new pal N!aici (the ! and / symbols represent "clicks" which replace consonants in the local language) and the bushmen of the Kalahari.
My big chance to reconnect with our species' primitive ancestry by calling forth an elemental force of nature... fire.

A BOLD and striking work of art could soon be built overlooking one of the key traffic junctions in Grimsby town centre if a controversial Namibian artist is successful in persuading council bosses to go along with her ideas.
P lans seen by the Grimsby Telegraph show a 70m high installation which, it is proposed, would be built of recycled steel, with influences drawn from the sea and the associated fishing industry.

TONY DODSON'S dream of taking on two weight world champion Harry Simon has been shattered.
The Garston Warrior had signed to fight Namibian veteran Simon for the WBF 'world' light-heavyweight title on September 30 in Africa but the ECHO understands that British boxing chiefs have put a stop to the contest.
