THERE I was, half watching television and half-heartedly playing solitaire on my laptop. I couldn't check my emails because my internet provider has cut my connection due to a glitch in my finances. Oh dear, I'm beginning to sound like a local council or a bank or major manufacturer - except that central government won't be bailing me out with public funds.
Ah well, maybe I could get a large property company to redevelop my garden for a huge amount of cash. There I go again sounding like a local council.

CRIMINALS have little to fear. The Government's red tape restricts the ability of the police to be able to prioritise their duties in the most effective way.
How many people would want to take the places of the emergency services in scenes witnessed recently? Paramedics treating the injured amid on-street battles, the fire crews stoned by mindless yobs while trying to save lives and the frontline police bravely confronting rioters and looters with an incredible determination to protect the public and property as best they could in unprecedented situations. Frequently we get a Home Secretary put into the role having had no relevant education or training.

QWE ARE selling our house and our buyer's solicitor has discovered that between our driveway and the road there is a strip of land that belongs to the local farmer. We have lived here for two years and have never had any access problems and didn't know that the land didn't belong to us. The solicitor dealing with our sale acted for us when we bought and has said that we must take independent legal advice. Why is that? AIT APPEARS that your solicitor didn't notice the piece of land over which access is required to get to the public highway from your property. Sometimes such a strip of land is called a ransom strip. Your solicitor should have ensured you had a right of way, with or without vehicles, over the land.
You are lucky that the farmer has not stopped you crossing this land. Your ...

IT is not the one-off amount of money Exeter City could get for selling off our public property, City property assets are worth millions of pounds, August 5. Far more important is the annual income the council makes on our behalf from these wellmanaged public assets. Every year, for year after year, that income helps keep our council rates low. In fact, the fourth lowest in England.

THE ongoing regeneration of the Tyne conurbation centred on Newcastle and Gateshead is vital if the region's economy is to be driven forward.

BiFFO was right when he said: 'i don't believe there's any reason for irish people to be ashamed or humiliated.' he failed to mention that all the shame and humiliation is his to share equally with snout-in-thetrough public representatives, bon vivant bankers and wannabe tycoon property moguls.
in 2011, let's get rid of all incumbent tDs. they're all responsible. they didn't do enough to stand up for their people and protect their country.

House prices in London may have fallen for the first time in a year last month, but the 0.1 per cent drop is little consolation for the army of teachers, nurses and police struggling to get on the property ladder.
While City bonuses have soared, the pay of public-sector staff has failed to keep pace with rising property values. At 394,268, the average price of a home in the capital is 12 times the average teachers salary, 15 times that of a nurse and 17 times a paramedics annual pay.
