THE spotlight on Healthcare Locums founder Kate Bleasdale has shifted to chairman Alan Walker now she and other shareholders are demanding his head on a plate. But it seems to me Kate still has some answering to do.
I still have serious reservations about how the company bought the Redwood businesses owned by her husband John Cariss last year. Yes, Healthcare Locums did disclose in Stock Exchange filings that it was a "related party transaction". But it seems odd that no disclosure was made in those filings that Bleasdale was, until four weeks earlier, a member of his Cardale investment partnership, through which he owned the company.

ROYAL Bank of Scotland yesterday began the new year with another setback as the deal to sell its Pakistani operation to Karachi's MCB Bank failed to win regulatory approval.
The deal, which was agreed last August, had appeared a sure thing but MCB admitted in a letter to the Pakistani stock exchange that it had failed to secure regulatory approval before the transaction deadline of 31 December.

VLADIMIR Romanov's bid to buy Chris Robinson's shareholding in Hearts is still on course and the deal's likely completion early in the new year will bring to an end Robinson's ten-year reign as a director at Tynecastle.
As expected, an announcement to the Stock Exchange confirmed the transaction between the Lithuanian businessman and the Hearts chief executive had not been completed before yesterday's initial deadline.

THE aircraft leasing firm owned by Denis O'Brien, Aergo Capital, has bought a South African aviation leasing business for E110m.
The transaction with Imperial Holding, an investment company listed on the Johannesburg stock exchange, will see Aergo take control of 33 aircraft in its Safair aircraft-leasing division and lease a further nine planes from the parent company.

SCOTTISH Radio Holdings yesterday announced plans to acquire Donegal Highland Radio group, which operates a local radio service in Donegal in the Republic of Ireland, for around Euro-7m (pounds- 4.7m).
In a statement to the London Stock Exchange, Glasgowbased SRH said it expected the transaction to be "immediately earnings enhancing".
