Summary
THE latest gentleman to rush into print in regard to the removal of the North Island Bacon Curing Co's business from Woodville to Palmerston is Mr W Nelson of the firm Nelson Bros., Tomoana. He writes a lengthy letter to the Woodville Examiner regarding statements made by Mr J D Anderson, managing director, at the recent meeting in Palmerston, and the public have only to read his letter to be more convinced than ever that the decision of the Company to abandon their present works is thoroughly justified. It seems that the agitation to have the bacon curing operations of the Company conducted in Palmerston alarmed Mr Nelson, for on October 26, 1904, he wrote to the Company offering to reduce the rent of the Woodville works from GBP 500 to GBP 300 per annum.
