On 3 June 1998 she applied for asylum and was given a standard acknowledgment letter ("SAL") issued by the Home Office's Immigration and Nationality Department office in Croydon.2. On 31 July 2001 Ms Manzana made a written application to the National Asylum Support Service ("NASS") for asylum support. NASS is an agency of the Home Office.
