CRIMINAL gangs from both sides of the border are joining forces and using channels once meant for firearms to smuggle drugs, it was warned yesterday.

PSNI deputy chief constable Judith Gillespie claimed the links between gangs in the North and South has "taken on a new dimension" following the peace process.
