Summary


An estimated 3,000 workers in job centres, benefit offices and prisons across the West Midlands went on strike yesterday to protest over pay.

Union leaders representing workers at the Department for Work and Pensions and the Prison Service estimated up to 80 per cent of their members in affected offices were taking part in the 48-hour walk- out.
