Summary
Birmingham doesn't enjoy much of a reputation for self- promotion, but surely the extraordinary success of the Bullring shopping centre during its first year is worthy of more than a little back-slapping. With in excess of 36 million visitors in 12 months spending pounds 400 million, the new Bullring is the most visited retail centre in the country. That, alone, is worth celebrating.
But, as Marketing Birmingham chairman Ian Squires pointed out, the Bullring is far, far more than merely a collection of shops. It is an experience.
