Rachel Nickell's killer was finally brought to justice 16 years after she was brutally stabbed and assaulted in front of her young son.

Convicted sex killer Robert Napper admitted carrying out the attack on Wimbledon Common which shocked the nation and triggered one of the biggest manhunts in recent police history. Broadmoor patient Napper, 42, pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the Old Bailey and his plea was accepted on the grounds of his diminished responsibility.
