MOUNTING losses on National Health Service contracts have slashed consulting firm Accenture's net profit by 67%, landing it with a $450 million (Pounds 257.5 million) charge.

The company said that, under current NHS contract terms, future costs will exceed revenue but it pledged to complete the work as "an important pioneering assignment".
