LONG HAIR
WHAT is it about long hair on older women? I was musing on that strange shock you get when you see the back of a woman with swingy long locks who turns to confront you with a face that's old. Why the shock? Who made the rule that old hair should be short hair? OK, long hair that's lost its buoyancy and lustre does no favours for a gravitydrawn face. But what about good hair? I discussed it with a friend who has firm views on the subject: 'Long hair looks creepy on older women -- like those Guinness Book of Records holders with curly talons.'
