SAVERS who opened a Barclays cash Isa, paying 5.5 pc plus a 1pc bonus, before the last tax year ended on April 5 have been reassured their account start-date will be backdated to the day they applied.
Many of the tens of thousands of worried customers who checked their statements online or at a branch, or who phoned the Barclays call centre over the past few days, have been informed their accounts were opened in this tax year, 2007/08.
