THE thin blue line that repelled all England had to throw at them is facing another test of strength, character and technique as they confront the most potent array of weaponry in European rugby. Scotland have not beaten Ireland in Dublin in eight years but, after unexpected victories over pre-tournament favourites France and England, the Scots amazingly remain very much in the title mix on the penultimate weekend of the RBS 6 Nations.

The colossal defensive effort against England, rated by some the best in Test history, will be needed again today as Scotland bids to venture beyond all pre-season expectations.
