Summary
Seldom would I leap to the defence of any politician, but to blame the Government for the recent flood damage (News & Comment, July 22) is akin to blaming Noah for not building enough arks. Your anger should be directed at the planning authorities who sanctioned developments on land that they were aware could be subject to flooding.
The biggest culprits must be in Hull, where it is said the council had not bothered to insure its own properties that are on flood plains against water damage. Now it is screaming for assistance from central Government.See the full content of this document
