JENSON BUTTON said yesterday that he wants to be "not just the best British driver but the best in F1" as he claimed pole position for today's Malaysian Grand Prix in the muggy heat of Sepang.

But the pressure continues to build on fellow Briton Lewis Hamilton and his embattled McLaren team. Martin Whitmarsh, team principal, cancelled his media commitments yesterday as speculation grows that he may be considering his future.
