ON HIS first press conference, we heard Glasgow's new Chief Constable Steve House warn that another terrorist attack in Scotland couldn't be ruled out. Later in the news, it emerged that former minister John Reid was elected as Celtic's new chairman.
Leaving aside the questionable morality of being associated with someone who is alleged by many to be a war criminal for his support of the war in Iraq, have Celtic Football Club really thought through the security implications of this appointment? The club may now be at risk of being regarded by adherents of Al-Qaeda as a supporter of the Iraq war and an ally of President Bush, the 'Great Satan.' Isn't there now considerable danger that the club could become a target for the sort of terrorist attack that Chief Constable House has warned about? Considering the horrendous implications of such an attack by suicide bombers in an arena filled with 50,000 supporters, shouldn't Celtic FC reconsider its decision?See the full content of this document
