Summary
Arias for Senesino History will be made tomorrow when Andreas Scholl becomes the first countertenor ever to appear at the Last Night of the Proms. By a happy coincidence Decca is releasing a disc of arias similar to those Scholl will be singing.
Arias for Senesino celebrates the great 18th-century castrato for whom the leading composers of the day, including Handel, wrote or arranged some of their bestknown music. Handel's famous aria Dove Sei from Rodelinda was written for Senesino, while Cara Sposa from Rinaldo was taken over by him for a later revival.See the full content of this document
