NEW ZEALAND will hit Britain and Ireland in November as Tri- Nations champions following their 28-24 defeat of Australia yesterday. It was a marvellous match, packed with variety, intensity and no little tension as the Wallabies mounted one last desperate, and ultimately futile, attack to save the game. But that will not be occupying the thoughts of Martin Johnson as he prepares England to face the All Blacks at Twickenham. His concern will be to identify in what areas England will enjoy an advantage over New Zealand.

And, frankly, just under three months out from the mouth- watering clash, there is not much cause for hope beyond scrum-half, where All Black Jimmy Cowan is an ordinary Test performer, and at scrum-time, since New Zealand will have to bed in a replacement for the experienced Greg Somerville, who is heading for Gloucester.
