A delegation of politicians planning to spend nearly GBP40,000 on a trip to NewYork have been forced to defend the value of the visit.

Perth and Kinross Council has justified the journey by claiming people in US will not knowwhere Perthshire is if they do not go. Lewis Simpson, a councillor, said taxpayers should be "pleased" about next year's GBP38,000 outing.
