PETER DONALDSON, the voice of the Today programme, has quit for good. The veteran news reader is a casualty of Radio 4 controller Mark Damazer's new dawn schedule which has dispensed with the nationalistic "UK Theme" in favour of the shipping forecast.
Donaldson left the staff of the BBC last August when he turned 60 and had to retire. He then became a freelance and continued to be heard reading the news on Today, which he first started doing in 1974.See the full content of this document
