A HIT-and-run driver apologised yesterday for causing the death of a mother, daughter and a five-year-old child while driving at up to 75mph in a 30mph area under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Dean Martin, 23, ignored repeated pleas to hand over his car keys and the "near hysterical" protests of his passengers as he sped through a housing scheme in Glenrothes, Fife.
