LONDON is facing a battle with Manchester to be the home of a Las Vegas-style super-casino.

The Evening Standard has learned the Government is set to use a loophole in the Gambling Act to increase the number of 24-hour betting complexes. The controversial-move emerged after the new owners of the ill-fated Millennium Dome unveiled plans for a giant leisure complex with space for a major casino at its heart. Before the election, Labour was forced to scale back plans for dozens of super-casinos to only one after a massive revolt.
