Summary


An inspection of council homes in Aberdeen has revealed that the local authority is failing to carry out the annual safety checks of gas appliances required by legislation.

In the first examination of council housing stock by Communities Scotland, inspectors found that 2000 properties with gas appliances had no safety certificate in place. In what is described as a significant weakness, the checks in more than 14percent of the houses were more than a month overdue.
