MR WRIGHT'S letter (Y can't I be first) and the follow-up from Mr Allen brought back memories of my ATS days during the war.
I worked as a young typist in HQ, where the details of all male personnel in the camp were kept. These cards were housed in a wooden cabinet with a primitive card index system - first tray AD, second tray DG, etc. It was my job to update these cards, extract those promoted and type out new ones for recent arrivals.See the full content of this document
