Summary

I have two daughters by two different fathers. One of these dads no longer has contact with his daughter and this has caused friction among the siblings.

This is a sad situation and must make one daughter feel very left out and jealous. Top tension times are probably just before and after contact. One daughter probably finds this reminds her of what she's missing, while the other may feel her sibling spoils visits by being upset. In advance, help each understand the other by sharing these feelings. If possible, at the time of contact, set up something special for the sister left at home. Maybe an uncle or grandparent could set aside individual time for her? If not, would she be interested in doing something with you? Even though she may have been told already, it is worth reminding your child that it is not her fault that her father isn't in touch as she may harbour fears she caused him to stop contact. Chances to enjoy each other's company can offset tensions between them. Build up their relationship by organising some extra fun activities the girls can share.
