NFU Scotland has called on the Scottish Executive and the European Union to recognise the practicalities of sheep tagging after Brussels issued its latest ruling on record-keeping.
Scotland has eight million sheep, of which around 3.2 million are breeding ewes. Sheep farms here are, on average, the largest in the EU, and the original proposals from Brussels that each animal should have a separate ear tag number were viewed as unworkable, especially under hill conditions.See the full content of this document
