FORMER Tory deputy prime minister Lord Heseltine has hit out at British society for "worshipping at the altar of the young".

In a speech at a charity event in London, Lord Heseltine, 76 - who was dubbed "Minister for Merseyside" for his work in the region in the 1980s - said that older people had a key role to play in reversing media stereotypes.
