BRITAIN'S former top-ranking Asian police officer has broken his silence to denounce his ex-boss Sir Ian Blair as a political poodle who used the cash-for-honours scandal to hang on to his job.

Speaking for the first time since he retired as Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police after a bitter racism row, Tarique Ghaffur claims that Sir Ian used the prolonged inquiry to gain 'leverage' over the Home Office while he was dealing with criticism following the shooting of innocent Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes.
