Summary
OVER the past week it's really begun to feel as if summer is here, which may sound hopelessly optimistic, but a glimpse of sunshine and suddenly we're struck with a bit of Pollyanna-esque positivity. Capitalising on this upbeat mood causes a girl to contemplate a bit of spring cleaning, maybe even a kitchen overhaul.
All of which sounds terribly retro and old-fashioned, but if you're going to go down that sort of desperate Stepford Wife route, it's probably best to embrace it wholeheartedly. Even the smallest kitchen in the world doesn't have to be without personality. First things first - you need storage, but that doesn't mean shelling out for hugely expensive built-in units. Some brightly coloured fabric not only gives the place an injection of colour, but will also hide away a multitude of underthe-sink sins, not to mention pots, pans and cleaning equipment. Wall-mounted storage also helps. Shelves that allow you to display your prettiest crockery are great, and if they don't have hooks built in, add them yourself - simply buy a packet of cup hooks from your local DIY store and screw them into the underside of the shelf or the backing board.See the full content of this document
