ONa miserably cold, wet and windy day on the links, Catriona Matthew led the Scottish challenge at the Weetabix Women's British Open with a one-over-par 73 that left her five adrift of the surprise firstround leader, Korean Jeong Jang.

Matthew, 34, was "amazed" at Jang's score, which was compiled in two parts, before and after a morning break of more than an hour to allow surface water on the greens to clear.
