Summary
OFFSHORING is simply the latest development in a long line of economic progress which has taken the creation of wealth from self- sufficient farming to integration with other local producers, to a national economy, then an international one. It represents a shift towards the true globalisation of production. At each stage there has been an increase in specialisation, inter-dependence and wealth. And at each stage there have also been individual losers. This is no different.
So what should we do about it? Be generous to the losers but welcome the process with open arms. And don't be surprised if I am soon replaced by a Mr Bootleji, based in Bangalore!See the full content of this document
