POLICE yesterday vowed to crack down on serious organised crime by seizing gangsters' assets, targeting drug dealers and tackling the crooked accountants or lawyers who help criminal networks.

The new strategy unveiled by Lothian and Borders Police is the first of its kind in Scotland and will ensure that all officers, instead of only CID and specialist staff, will for the first time have responsibility for targeting serious organised crime in the area.
