MARY FLEMING, 67, (left) couldn't understand why her gas bills were so high. When she rang Scottish Power, she says she was told to cut back on her heating.
'Two years ago, I noticed my bills had shot up,' says Mrs Fleming, from Plymouth. 'My mother, who is 89, has her heating on all the time, yet my bills were nearly double hers. I kept phoning up as I was sure it was wrong. Finally, this year, I was told I was being charged on imperial readings instead of metric.'
