HOLIDAYS were a whole lot different in the inter-war years when a weekend break was more likely to mean a trip to the Clyde coast or the Highlands rather than a European city break.

These two brave souls, complete with suitcases, parcels wrapped in brown paper and a rather fetching floral housecoat, were to keen take advantage of the Glasgow YMCA's offer of a weekend away for three and sixpence and seven meals for half a crown when the group opened their new hut in Killearn, Perthshire.
