Summary
WITHOUT expressing an opinion over the controversy that surrounded the emergence of Scotland's new parliament building, it does seem odd that the commemorative figure of the man largely credited with its creation should be located outside an entrance to the concert hall in Glasgow. Surely a more appropriate place for the much-vandalised statue of Donald Dewar, Scotland's first first minister, would be close to our parliament in Edinburgh. This would avoid, in its present position, having to elevate his likeness to a height approaching Nelson's column in order to keep it out of harm's way.
