CHAIRMAN Bill Bratt says Port Vale's Pounds 1m player budget has already been spent - four weeks before the start of the new League Two season.

The revelation means boss Micky Adams will not be able to add to his three permanent signings unless extra cash can be raised. Adams has so far recruited midfield duo Tom Fraser and Doug Loft from Brighton, while right-back Adam Yates agreed to sign from Morecambe before his arrival. Bratt said: "The budget has been exceeded so we can't go any further. We have to get money from other sources. There will be no players coming in unless players go out.
