Rangers in Cup Loss As New Season Looms Large

Summary

STAFFORD Rangers wound up their pre-season programme with a 2-0 home defeat by Hednesford Town in the return leg of the Chase Cup final at Marston Road.

Rangers trailed 2-1 from the first meeting at Keys Park and never threatened the visitors' advantage with as much as a shot at goal. Hednesford scored in each half and to add to Rangers' woes they lost goalkeeper Lee Evans with a foot injury that makes him a doubt for the start of their Blue Square North campaign away to Hyde United next Saturday. CONGLETON Town, fresh from holding Port Vale to a 1- 1 draw at Booth Street, went nap in their friendly away to Eccleshall. The Bears' goals were shared among Danny Griggs, Stuart Tulloch, Andy Kinsey, Andy Hurst and Ryan Baker, while Mike Dunn scored a consolation for the hosts. STONE Dominoes also hit five in sinking Stone Old Alleynians at Yarnfield.
