LIVERPOOL said today that they have rejected a Pounds 32million British record bid from Chelsea for England midfielder Steven Gerrard.

Negotiations over a new contract for the midfielder have broken down but chief executive Rick Parry said today: "I can confirm we have had a bid from Chelsea and that it will be rejected by us."
