KEVIN DOYLE made a surprise comeback from hernia surgery - but missed a penalty as Wolves lost 2-0 at home to Real Valladolid.

Doyle (below), who cost a club record pounds 6.5m from Reading, looked set to miss next week's Premier League season start. But he replaced Sylvan Ebanks-Blake on the hour and played 22 minutes. His 72nd-minute penalty was saved by Justo Viveros, which would have made it 1-1 after Haris Medunjanin's 30-yard drive put Valladolid ahead in the 29th minute.
