EPHRAIM Belcher, Scotland's sausage king, pumped (pounds) 1m into his pension fund last year after his Prestwick meat factory reaped the rewards of a multi-million-pound expansion.

Despite recently becoming a new father at 60, the high-rolling businessman has no plans to retire or sell up, a company source said. He is now sole director of family firm Belcher Food Products, following the departure of a clutch of senior executives.
