The Smoke Control Areas (Authorised Fuels) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003

Made 16th October 2003

Coming into operation 1st December 2003

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 2(2) of the Clean Air (Northern Ireland) Order 1981[1] (hereinafter referred to as "the Order") and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, having regard, amongst other things, to the sulphur content of the fuels described in Schedule 1, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Smoke Control Areas (Authorised Fuels) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 and shall come into operation on 1st December 2003.

Authorised Fuels

2. Anthracite, semi-anthracite, electricity, gas, low volatile steam coals and the fuels described in the Schedule are hereby prescribed as authorised fuels for the purposes of the Order.
