STATUTORY RULES OF NORTHERN IRELAND1997 No. 541HOUSING; RATES; SOCIAL SECURITYThe Social Security (Amendment) (New Deal) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997Made 16th December 1997Coming into operation 5th January 1998The Department of Health and Social Services for Northern Ireland, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 6(5), 14(4)(a) and (b), 21(2), (8)(b) and (10)(c), 22(4) and 36(2) of, and paragraphs 3(b) and 14(a) of Schedule 1 to, the Jobseekers (Northern Ireland) Order 1995[1] and sections 122(1),129(4), 131(1), 132(4)(a) and (b), 171(1), (3) and (4) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 1992[2] and of all other powers enabling it in that behalf, with the consent of the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland[3] in so far as regulation 17(1), (2)(b), (3), (4)(b), (5), (6)(b), (7), (8)(b), (9), (10)(b), (11) and (12)(b) is concerned, and after agreement by the Social Security Advisory Committee that proposals in respect of these Regulations should not be referred to it[4], hereby makes the following Regulations:Citation, commencement and interpretation1.--(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Security (Amendment) (New Deal) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 5th January 1998.(2) In these Regulations--"the Disability Working Allowance Regulations" means the Disability Working Allowance (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1992[5];"the Family Credit Regulations"...
