LABOUR'S plans to "re-wild" vast swathes of the countryside with beavers, lynx and elk have been branded "ill thought-out" by countryside campaigners who claim the move risks undermining the rural economy.

The Country Land & Business Association is worried about the effect the proposals will have on livestock and rural businesses. Environment Secretary Hilary Benn announced earlier this week that he wanted to create wildlife networks by re-introducing long-lost species.
